Maratea is a communal city located in the Italian region of Basilicata. It also unites under its wing the small coastal villages of Aquafredda, Marina di Maratea, Castrocco, Porto, Cersuta, Fiumicello and located higher on the hills of Brefaro, Massa Castello and Santa Caterina. The only one from the entire region has access to the sea.

The beaches of Maratea are considered one of the most picturesque in Italy. Indeed, they are very clean, and almost all are in the bays, which creates a special atmosphere of peace, tranquility and solitude. Tourists are also attracted by unspoiled nature, clean air, rich local cuisine and attractions. There are many of them in Maratea. The most famous, of course, is a 22-meter statue of Christ the Savior, which rises on one of the city hills. She is one of the 20 highest statues of Christ in the whole world. In addition, in Maratea there are already 44 churches, and several surviving watch towers of the XVI-XVII centuries.
