Common description

Piacenza is located in the northern part of Italy, in the region of Emilia Romagna. The city was founded by the Romans in the III century BC. and to this day has retained elements of its original appearance. Only on the site of the former Roman main square - the Martian Field - is now the Renaissance Cavalli Square, on the site of the Ancient Roman Forum - Duomo Cathedral, and on the outline once protected the city of the fortress walls is now greener Fax. Since the Middle Ages, several palaces have been preserved in the city (Palazzo Farnese, Gothic Palace). The remarkable Piacenza is also the fact that, for one of its local churches, one of the brilliant creators of the Renaissance Raphael wrote his, perhaps, the greatest creation: the Sistine Madonna. Unfortunately, the monks later sold her, and her copy has been hanging in the church ever since.

Fashionable fact: Giorgio Armani was born not in the Piachenko and started his journey.
