Common description

Ravenna is a seaside port on the east coast of Italy in the Emilia-Romagna region. Four times the capital: first the Western Roman Empire, after the Kingdom of the Ostrogoths, and the Lombard Kingdom, as well as the Byzantine province of the Ravenna Exarchate. Needless to say, how many interesting sights this city is crammed with? Eight of them are especially important, as they are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. These are the mausoleum of Galla Placidia (IV century), the Baptistery of Neonian (IV century), the Archbishop's chapel (VI century), the basilica of Sant'Apollinare-Nuovo (VI century), the mausoleum of Theodoric (VI century), the Arian Baptistery (VI century), the basilica of San Vitale (VI century), the basilica of Sant Apollinare in Class (VI century). Almost all of them inside are decorated with rich mosaics, combining the styles of ancient and Byzantine schools.
